Bromley & Sevenoaks
About Bromley & Sevenoaks
In 1994 Dr Sked formed the United Kingdom Independence Party. A year later Bromley Branch consisted of three constituencies, Beckenham, Bromley, and Orpington. There were few members in each constituency in those days and when the Chairman of Bromley and Orpington moved on, it was decided that Beckenham would take over the other two Branches and become known as “Bromley Branch” under the Chairmanship of Chris Pratt.
Originally meetings were held in Public Houses in each of the areas. Eventually however the Branch hired a Church hall near Bromley Centre. At the present time the Church Hall is being refurbished and we are holding our meetings at the Farwig Public House on the corner of Farwig Lane and College Road.
In September 2007 we incorporated Sevenoaks Branch into Bromley as there was no Committee there, and as part of our recruiting campaign we were recruiting new members in the Sevenoaks area. We have since provided support to members there.
In the 2009 European Elections the Bromley and Sevenoaks Branch gained just under 19% of the vote. This was a great result for us and shows that UKIP is gaining support each year.
In 2010 General Election all UKIP General Election candidates came 4th. UKIP are yet to break the Lib/Lab/Con stranglehold that pins down Britain at present. But with each result we edge a closer to our goal as our voteshare steadily increases.
